Final Mock Draft

1. Chiefs-Luke Joeckel T Texas A&M


I just don't understand why the Chiefs would take a guy from the MAC over the best offensive tackle in the best conference in America the SEC.  That is why I believe the pick should be Luke Joeckel over Eric Fisher.  This guy is a franchise player who the Chiefs can build around for over a decade. I just don't think they will pass on him and conventional wisdom will prevail with Andy Reid and the Chiefs at the end of the day.
 

2. Jaguars-  Geno Smith QB West Virginia


Many draft experts are saying the Jaguars are going to go with either Joeckel or Fisher. I personally think the Jags will go with Smith since Blaine Gabbert may be the worst starting QB in the league.  I view Smith as an elite QB while many draft experts don't, which is mind boggling to me.  Geno had a completion percentage over 70% last year, which is in line with what Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, and Russell Wilson did in their final college season.You have to have a QB to win in this league and Smith would give the Jaguars a solid QB for years to come.

3. Raiders- Shariff Floyd DT Florida

The Raiders have a need at defensive tackle since they released long time raider Tommy Kelley and they don't really have many contributors left at the position.  Insert Shariff Floyd the number one defensive tackle in this draft. I believe Floyd will be the pick because the raiders don't have a need at offensive tackle and they could've been tempted by Geno Smith, but since he is gone by number 3, I think Floyd will be the pick.
 

4. Eagles-  Eric Fisher T Central Michigan  

Many people believe Eric Fisher will and should be the number one.  Therefore the Eagles will be getting a great player at the fourth pick.  Jason Peters the Eagles current left tackle is getting older and has injury concerns therefore he could be moved to right tackle and Fisher could be the Eagles new left tackle.  Fisher will fit in nicely in Philadelphia if picked.
 

5. Lions- Lane Johnson T Oklahoma

The Lions could go with a defensive end here with the loss of Cliff Aviril, but I think they get a replacement for Gosder Cherilus since he departed to the Colts in free agency.  Many including myself believe Lane Johnson could become the best offensive lineman out of this stacked group of lineman.  This pick just makes since Matt Stafford is not the most durable guy and I'm sure the Lions would be thrilled with Lane Johnson at this spot in the draft.

6. Browns-Dion Jordan DE Oregon 


With this pick the Browns would be getting the best defensive lineman in the draft in my opinion.  Dion Jordan has the potential to make a bunch of sacks over his career.  In the NFC North you've got to have a good defense to compete and the group of Dion Jordan, Jabaal Sheard, and Paul Kruger would give the Browns a heck of a pass rush.  The pick should be Jordan if he is available at this point.




 

7. Cardinals- Ezekiel Ansah DE BYU

The Cardinals could elect to go with a guard here, but I think they will go with Ansah based purely on potential.  Many compare Ansah to Jason Pierre-Paul which is pretty spot on based on athleticism and potential coming into the draft.  If the Cardinals could get a player comparable to Pierre-Paul they better run to the podium if Ansah is available at this pick. 

8. Bills-Jonathan Cooper G UNC

The Bills lost Andy Levitre to the Tennessee Titans in free agency, so why not add the best guard in the draft Jonathan Cooper. This pick would help open a bunch of holes for C.J. Spillar and Fred Jackson.  The Bills won't hesitate to take Jonathan Cooper if he is available at this pick.

9. Jets-Tavon Austin WR West Virginia

The Jets need offensive firepower badly. If Geno Smith were here he would be the pick, but since he is gone, the pick is Tavon Austin Geno Smith's college team mate at West Virginia.  Many may argue against this pick due to Austin's size, but he is too electric to pass on if you are the Jets.  This is why the Jets will select Tavon Austin if he's available.
 

10. Titans- Dee Milliner CB Alabama

The Titans have to be jumping out of their seats if Milliner is availible at this spot.  The Titans had an awful pass defense last year and Milliner would solve those woes.  Many argue that Milliner has too much injury baggage to be considered a top 10 pick but the Titans shouldn't worry.  Milliner is by far the best option at this point in the draft.

Tennessee Titans 2013 Schedule with Predictions

Here is the first glance at the Tennessee Titans 2013 schedule courtesy of USA Today. All times are easter time. 

Sept. 8: at Pittsburgh Steelers, 1 p.m.
Sept. 15: at Houston Texans, 1 p.m.
Sept. 22: vs. San Diego Chargers, 1 p.m.
Sept. 29: vs. New York Jets, 4:05 p.m.
Oct. 6: vs. Kansas City Chiefs, 1 p.m.
Oct. 13: at Seattle Seahawks, 4:05 p.m.
Oct. 20: vs. San Francisco 49ers, 4:05 p.m.

So now that I've seen the schedule I'm going to make an early prediction on the season for Mike Munchack and company.  First off I don't think this is your normal Steelers team and I believe they are in transition sort of like the Titans so I'm going to give the Titans a win here.  The Houston Texans on the other hand are most definitely not in transition therefore I'm going with the Texans in this game.  The Charges usually have the Titans number but I think the Titans pull this one off in Nashville.  This rematch of the lone Monday night game for the Titans, the New York Jets is also a victory in my opinion.  I see the Titans moving on to 4-1 against the Chiefs at home.  Going to Seattle and facing arguable one of the top 4 best teams in the league, the Seahawks, unfortunately looks like a loss for the Titans I have to go with Seattle here.  At San Fransisco isn't any easier and I see the Titans dropping another one here.  This would make the Titans 4-3 heading into their week 8 bye, which I would say is nothing to be ashamed of.

After the bye the Titans face their former head coach Jeff Fisher and the Saint Louis Rams.  I have to give the edge to the Rams and Fisher in this game because I just believe their roster is more talented and Fisher is a step above Munchack in the coaching department.  Up next the Titans get the Jagaurs and rookie head coach Gus Bradley.  I am going with the Titans here as I believe the Jaguars are the worst team in football this year.  Andrew Luck and the Colts are up next in Nashville for the Titans.  In this one I think the Titans fall to .500 with a loss to the Colts making them 5-5.  But luckily they draw the second worst team in my eyes, the Oakland Raiders, next.  I have to go with Jake Locker and the Titans here, chalk up another win for the Titans!  Here's those pesky Colts again, and guess what it's the same outcome.  The Titans fall to .500 again with a loss to the Colts marking them at 6-6. 

These last four games are crucial if the Titans have any hope of making the playoffs.  This next game though pits the Titans against one of the greatest, if not the greatest, quarterbacks of all-time Peyton Manning.  I don't foresee the Titans beating the Broncos in the mile high city, effectively dropping the Titans to 6-7.  Luckily face a far less daunting opponent the Arizona Cardinals next.  I predict the Titans get back to .500 with a win against Bruce Ariens and the Cardinals, slightly keeping the Titans playoff hopes alive at 7-7.  Another game against Jacksonville propels the Titans to 8-7 and a continued hope for the postseason.  This last game against the Texans very well could mean nothing to Houston since there is a good chance they will have the division wrapped up at this point.  This is why I'm predicting the Titans beat the Texans and finish the season at 9-7.  This record could very well could put the Titans in the playoffs depending on how other teams do.

NFL Mock Draft 3.0

Sorry you all I haven't updated my blog in a while. I've been super busy with school lately. In this updated there aren't that many major changes. You may notice I have Geno Smith a little higher than most draft experts. Two reasons for this, Blaine Gabbert sucks, and its a new regime in Jacksonville and usually in a new regime you go with a new QB, why not Geno?  Lets look at some of my other picks in my latest update.

1. Chiefs- Luke Joeckel T Texas A&M

Lets face it the Kansas City Chiefs have a lot of talent on their roster, they had 6 pro bowlers somehow this year. For this reason this is a hard pick to predict not only because there isn't a sure fire number 1 prospect this but also because the chiefs don't have huge holes in the roster.  I'm going to go with Joeckel though because there is no guarantee Brandon Albert is back next year and Joeckel was the best tackle in the best conference in America the SEC. Therefore the pick is Luke Joeckel.

2. Jaguars- Geno Smith QB West Virgina

I explained this pick in the intro if Jacksonville is smart they'll take Geno Smith (Of course no one has ever accused the Jags of having football smarts so we will see what happens). If a team really wants to win you can't do it without a QB.  Jacksonville clearly doesn't unless Gabbert turns into Tom Brady over night the pick should be Smith in my opinion. 

3. Raiders- Sharrif Floyd DT Florida

The Raiders could go one of three guys here in my opinion: Sharrif Floyd, Dee Milliner, or Eric Fisher.  Since I view DT as the biggest need and rate Floyd as the best defensive tackle in this draft I've got the Raaaaiiiiders! taking Floyd at 3.

4. Eagles-Dion Jordan DE Oregon

So you may have been thinking Jordan and Chip Kelly would work out well in the NFL like they did in college, well so did I.  Dion Jordan at this point in the draft would be the highest rated player on my board and since the Eagles defense wasn't so hot last year why not give them the best defensive player on the board.

5. Lions- Eric Fisher T Central Michigan

Match made in heaven! At least this i what Matthew Stafford would be thinking if the Lions made this pick.  The Lions clearly need help on the offensive line and Fisher is the top rated offensive lineman.  Therefore this would be the best pick at this position.  Why would they pass on a potential franchise left tackle?

6. Browns- Dee Milliner CB Alabama

Now if the top QB in the draft was available I would slot Geno Smith here, but I have him going to Jacksonville at two.  Therefore they will go with the highest rated prospect who is Dee Milliner.  The potential CB tandem of Joe Hayden and Dee Milliner would be too tempting to the franchise.
 

7. Cardinals- Lane Johnson T Oklahoma

I believe Bruce Arians will pass on a QB as he either believes there isn't a franchise QB in this draft or he could get Matt Barkley, Ryan Nassib, or E.J. Manuel in the second round.  With that being said, picking Lane Johnson definitely wouldn't be considered settling. Some including myself believe Johnson has the highest upside of any offensive lineman in this draft; and he definitely is better than any tackle on Arizona's roster.

 8. Bills- Jonathan Cooper G UNC

This pick is simple math. The Bills lost Andy Levitre, one of the best guards in football, to the Tennessee Titans. So therefore why not add the best guard in the draft? Cooper gives the Bills an extremely talented and athletic guard who can help ease the pain of the loss of Levitre.
 

9. Jets-Ezekiel Ansah DE BYU

So what kind of coach is Rex Ryan. Oh yeah, he's a defensive minded coach.  Therefore when he is shopping for the groceries as Bill Parcells would call it, why not get what you really want.  This is why I believe the Jets add the best available defensive player Ezekiel Ansah.  The Jets D was BAD last year and Ansah provides a very solid piece to that defense.
 

10. Titans- Star Lotulelei DT Utah

The Tennessee Titans have been one of the busiest teams in free agency throwing out over 100 million guaranteed to their newest additions.  So when a team does this it usually means you have less needs and more flexibility to pick the best player available.  This is why I think the Titans go with Lotulelei who I view as the best available player at this point.

Ok so it may be a little crazy that I'm making my first fantasy football rankings of the year right? No not really, it's never too early to start your blueprints for a fantasy championship. I've composed my rankings with every touchdown being worth 6 points and 1 point per reception or PPR. I rated QBs, RBs, and WRs.  I'll do a top 100 hundred ranking and TE, Defense, and Kicker rankings in a future update. Here's my rankings I hope this helps you.

2013 NFL Mock Draft 1.0

Every year since the 2006 NFL draft I've done my own mock draft and have tried to compare it to the likes of Mel Kiper, Todd McShay, and Mike Mayock among others.  The crazy thing is my mock drafts have usually been just as right as theirs. Usually mock drafts are far off from what actually happens, but people like the draft experts and myself try to predict it anyway. Here's my first mock draft on this blog.
